DePue Mechanical was selected to complete a comprehensive process and utility piping installation at Daubert Chemical’s Chicago facility. Our scope included industrial piping, steam and condensate systems, valve and instrumentation installations, equipment setting, and demo work. The project combined a wide range of piping sizes and materials — from stainless to carbon steel — and required precise execution around active operations.
Daubert needed a mechanical contractor who could execute a detailed scope of piping installations while coordinating safely within a live facility. With multiple pipe types, valves, and instrumentation involved — plus tie-ins to existing headers and limited space in the rack system — the project required a seasoned team who could manage complexity without compromising speed or safety.
We provided and installed the following piping systems per spec:
- 3” unload process piping: 316L Sch 10 stainless steel, butt-weld
- 2” & 3” plant process piping: 316L Sch 40 & Sch 10 stainless steel, socket and butt-weld
- 1-1/2” steam and condensate piping: A53 Sch 80 carbon steel, threaded
- Tie-ins to 3-way valve in Room 47/48 and existing headers
We also completed full instrumentation and valve installations, including:
- Instruments: Level sensor, Hi-Hi sensor, gooseneck vent with quick couple, sample spigot, thermowells with thermocouples
- Valves – Plant Piping: Butterfly valves, flanged ball valves, cam & groove quick connects, Powell B310
- Valves – Unload Piping: Butterfly valves, flanged control valves, cam & groove fittings
- Steam & Condensate Trim: Steam traps, pressure gauges, regulators, Powell check, globe, and gate valves, Titan YS81 strainer
- Installed Viking 215T pump on pad
- Demoed and removed over 100 feet of carbon steel piping from elevated rack
- Optional steam tracing with 3/8” copper and compression fittings
- Met a tight 3–4 week project timeline
All systems were tested using plant air or nitrogen (NDE not required), and safety was coordinated closely with Daubert's team for proper LOTO, line isolation, and tie-in procedures.
