DePue Mechanical provides 24/7/365 emergency mechanical response for industrial, commercial, and municipal facilities across Northern Illinois and Greater Chicago. When piping, boilers, pumps, HVAC equipment, valves, structural supports, or other mechanical systems threaten production, facility operation, or safety, our on-call team can respond nights, weekends, and holidays.
After-hours calls are answered by a live service and routed to the appropriate DePue contact. You will speak with a DePue employee, and we can often be onsite within 1–4 hours depending on location, crew availability, and the nature of the emergency. New customers are welcome to call.
Mechanical failures rarely happen at a convenient time. A leaking line, failed pump, boiler problem, or HVAC shutdown can quickly affect production, building operations, product quality, or safety.
DePue responds to urgent mechanical failures across industrial and qualifying commercial facilities. The exact response depends on the system involved, but the priority remains the same: understand the problem, mobilize the right resources, stabilize the situation, and establish the safest path back to reliable operation.

Emergency response starts with understanding what has failed, how it is affecting the facility, and what resources may be needed before a crew is dispatched.
DePue maintains on-call technicians and tradespeople, and after-hours emergency calls are routed from our live answering service to the appropriate DePue contact. Based on the information available, we can begin mobilizing the piping, welding, HVAC, rigging, or other mechanical resources the situation requires.
Once onsite, our team evaluates the failure, coordinates the repair approach with facility personnel, and determines what is needed to safely stabilize, repair, test, and return the affected system to service.

A failed process or utility line can stop production quickly, especially when the system carries steam, condensate, chemicals, water, gas, or another critical plant utility.
DePue responds to leaks, ruptures, failed welds, damaged valves, piping-support problems, and other urgent piping conditions. Our industrial process piping capabilities allow our team to evaluate the affected system, fabricate or replace damaged sections, complete field tie-ins, and support testing and restart.
For failures involving plant utilities such as compressed air, chilled water, hot water, glycol, steam, or condensate, DePue can also draw on our industrial utility piping experience.

Boiler, steam, and pressure-system failures require more than a fast weld. The repair has to account for the affected pressure-retaining component, applicable code requirements, inspection, testing, documentation, and the conditions required for safe return to service.
DePue's boiler and code welding capabilities support emergency work involving boilers, steam systems, pressure piping, condensate systems, failed welds, and other code-sensitive mechanical repairs.
Depending on the scope, DePue can support applicable National Board R-Stamp repair work, B31.1 or B31.3 piping requirements, third-party NDE, pressure testing, inspection coordination, and project documentation.

When a pump or other critical mechanical component fails, the problem may involve more than the equipment itself. Access, piping connections, isolation, removal, lifting, replacement, and mechanical tie-ins can all affect how quickly the facility can recover.
DePue can support urgent equipment replacement with mechanical disconnection and reconnection, piping modifications, equipment setting, rigging coordination, and related field work. Our equipment setting and structural fabrication capabilities also allow us to address failures involving supports, frames, bases, or heavy equipment that requires coordinated lifting.

Loss of heating, cooling, or ventilation can quickly become a facility emergency when critical spaces, occupants, equipment, or operations depend on the mechanical system staying online.
DePue provides emergency mechanical HVAC support for commercial, municipal, and industrial facilities experiencing equipment failures involving chillers, cooling towers, rooftop units, air handlers, boilers, pumps, hydronic systems, and related mechanical components.
Our commercial HVAC services support both immediate repair needs and the larger replacement or maintenance work that may be required when an emergency reveals an aging or unreliable system.

Not every emergency can or should be solved with the final permanent repair during the first service visit. In some situations, the immediate priority is safely containing the failure, establishing a temporary repair or bypass, and restoring enough operation for the facility to manage production or building needs.
DePue works closely with plant and facility personnel to determine the appropriate repair path. System isolation responsibilities depend on the facility's safety standards and operating procedures and are coordinated through direct communication with the customer.
When the emergency exposes a larger mechanical problem, DePue can return for root-cause evaluation when needed, permanent equipment replacement, piping modifications, system upgrades, or other corrective work designed to reduce the risk of the same failure happening again.

The work is not finished simply because the leak has stopped or the new equipment has been installed. Before an affected system is returned to service, testing and inspection are matched to the type of repair, the mechanical system involved, applicable requirements, and the customer's procedures.
Depending on the scope, verification may include visual inspection, leak checks, pressure or hydrostatic testing, operational checks, and third-party nondestructive examination when required. DePue can coordinate radiography, ultrasonic testing, liquid penetrant testing, magnetic-particle testing, or other NDE methods through qualified third-party providers when the specification or repair requires it.
DePue documents emergency work for the customer. Repair records can include weld documentation, pressure and hydrotest records, inspection records, MTRs, photographs, repair reports, and project-specific QC packages. Detailed reports, photographs, and scope documentation can also support insurance or incident records when required.

During the Fourth of July holiday weekend, a pump failed on a Friday night at a specialty chemical plant. The facility's maintenance team needed support replacing the pump and getting the mechanical work completed without waiting until the next business day. DePue dispatched a fitter right away to assist with the pump swap, pipefitting, and pump bolt-up work.
In another emergency response at a power-generation facility in Elwood, Illinois, DePue was called for a damaged pipe-support condition that required field welding, heavy lifting, and coordination around existing plant conditions. Our team completed the welding repairs and coordinated crane support for the heavy lift.
Those calls reflect what 24/7 service actually means: responding when the facility needs mechanical help, bringing the right resources to the site, and working with the customer's team to move the repair forward safely.

DePue's emergency-response work is focused on facilities where mechanical failures can affect production, operations, building function, or safety.
Our highest-priority industrial emergency markets include food and beverage plants, chemical and process facilities, and water and wastewater operations. We also support commercial and municipal buildings with qualifying HVAC, piping, boiler, pump, and other facility-level mechanical emergencies.
Emergency calls commonly come from Maintenance Managers, Plant Managers, Facility Managers and Chief Engineers, Engineers and Project Managers, and Operations teams responsible for getting the facility safely back online.

DePue's 24/7 emergency response is focused on Northern Illinois and Greater Chicago within the applicable Pipefitters Local 597 service territory. Response time varies by facility location, crew availability, and the type of mechanical emergency, which is why the first phone conversation is important for determining the appropriate response.
Our emergency service is intended for industrial, commercial, and municipal mechanical systems. DePue does not provide residential service, electrical or PLC/control repair, generator service, refrigeration service, automotive welding, or small handyman-type repairs. High-rise work is also generally outside our emergency-service scope.
If you are unsure whether the failure fits DePue's capabilities, call 815-255-2500. A DePue employee can review the situation and determine whether our team is the right resource for the emergency.
